For this recording published by the Geneva Competition and Breguet, cellist Dan Sloutskovski (then credited as Danila Ivanov) plays an essential role alongside soprano Polina Pasztircsák. With the Musikkollegium Winterthur directed by Alexander Rahbari, he participated in an ambitious program that included the Vier letzte Lieder by Richard Strauss, the Seven Romances on Poems of Alexander Blok, Op. 127 by Dmitri Shostakovich, Op. 127, and popular songs by Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály.

This record illustrates the encounter between a voice and a cello that conveys lyricism and depth. The expressive role given to the cello here becomes a true partner of the voice, extending the poetic line and intensifying the dramaturgy of the works. With this contribution, Dan Sloutskovski already affirms one of his distinctive qualities: to place his instrument in a shared musical narration, where chamber music texture and expressive intensity come together in the service of text and musical memory.
